Introducing Callie-the newest addition to our family. Callie has been with us for 2 weeks now and has fit in like she has been here all her life. We are overwhelmed with how smart she is and how quickly she has learnt to do things.

She is full of personailty and is so gentle with Mischa & Milli. Already she has grown immensely and has a lot more to do. It's funny how quickly you can fall in love with this Weimaraner breed!

New Improvements

I said I'd share some photos, so here they are...The first incase you hadn't guessed is of Keith Urban. Some friends & I went down to see his show in Sydney and to put it mildly, he was absolutely amazing!! The support act-Lady Antebellum was also great. He came through the crowd & sang up close to everyone (you can see how close with the below picture!) as well as signing and giving one of his guitars away! If you ever get the chance to go see him, don't let it go.

I couldn't resist sharing this photo too. It is of the girls watching their Mum & Dad clean the house. Clearly it was just all a bit too much for them and they had to have a rest. It's a hard life...

Ok... now onto the home improvements. If you didn't know what out the back looked like well-some of the concrete was the natural colour and there was a whole section that was also RED-Yuk! We have recently painted it now and it is all ONE colour. It looks much bigger than what it did before and much cleaner!

And finally, here it is. The completed kitchen with glass splash back-all finished! Hooray! I love it and looking back at old photos I just can't believe how much of a difference there is!

Productive Weekend!

What a productive weekend! Here are most of the pages I was able to do. I still have one that is not quite finished as well as 2 that whenever I load them, they load sideways-go figure?? And it doesn't matter how many times I change them.

It was so great to see everybody again at the Retreat to Main Creek! So well organised by Kate. Marion, LOVED your cooking as usual, you are amazing! Peta had her awesome shop there and I think everyone over-spent a wee bit and of course the laughs and good humour. Bev & Nat thankyou for your ear, always ready to listen & never to judge, I always feel much lighter afterwards xxx

And of course Michelle and her nifty tips, Barb for her endless donation of paint, Bron and her humour, Haylie for driving us there and sharing a room with me (very patient she was) and all the new faces!

It's a great feeling to come home and file all the pages away and see the albums grow!

The Year 2011

The Year 2011....what does this year hold for me? I decided that after my year last year, that 2011 has to be my year. Already it has started off amazing, Brad and I went to New Zealand, he proposed & I said yes! I was offered another year's full time at work, another Stage 3 class. The wedding plans are coming along great, with all the important things booked.

This year for me will be me. Enjoying the wedding planning, Brad & I will be saving really hard! Being thankful that I have another year of full time work & that it is a job that I love. Making time for family & doing 'little' jobs to the house that don't cost a fortune.

I had my Aunty Tracy up this weekend and she is now so into scrapping that she bought up all her stuff. I even scrapped 3 pages, which I would not have done if she wasn't here and so keen! I plan to do a lot more scrapbooking this year & I hope the new bi-monthly kits from scrapbookingfromscratch will encourage me! I looked at the page amount in my 2010 album and it was dismal! When I get a chance, I will upload photos of the pages as well as the final, completed kitchen with splashback!

Lots to share with you all... & I hope you're sitting down, because it's actually a decent, information filled post!

Firstly, I must introduce the newest addition to our family- Miss 'Milli'. A miniature black & tan smooth haired dachshund (what a mouthful!!) We have had her for nearly 2 weeks now and she is uber cute!! Mish loves having someone to play with but does get a bit sad when Milli gets cuddled at the same time!!

I have been scrapping! I just can't show you right now (I haven't taken any photos of them haha). For all of those who knew we were doing an album for Pop's 70th in July...just so you know, he really, really loved it!! There were lots of photos in there that he had not seen in a long, long time & thanks to the scouting of Mum, Aunty Tracy & Georga-they were able to make the album! I am going to take it to Peta's Retreat so I can show everyone. I cannot imagine photographing all the pages, it would take far too long!!

Speaking of which, I am so looking forward to Peta's retreat!! Think I need it...and of course catching up with all the ladies that I have not seen in far too long!

I had an invitation to go to Manning Point with some lovely ladies, but being as uber organised as I am-I got the invitation too late & had lots of appointments anyway that I couldn't miss for THE wedding tomorrow- would have been so nice to go though!!

A really good friend of mine-Jess, is getting married. It will be at Pepper's Creek Winery & I CANNOT wait! Knowing Jess, everything will be perfect! Must practise my reading for the wedding today...

Lots of home improvements have been going on....a new kitchen & if any of you saw what the old granny green kitchen looked like, I'd say it's an improvement! (still waiting on the splashback!), a feature wall of marble & then a fire in front of that & a new dining room table (& you know what a bigger table means don't you? Scrap day at my house!). It finally feels like it is all coming together!

Just thought I would have a photo share of Jack's birthday...have had these for a couple of weeks but just haven't got around to uploading them. Had a lovely day and the kids were so great. On a scrapping note-I have been scrapping and using some of Peta's amazing kits!! I just can't share any of it yet as it is for something special.

Very much looking forward to the school holidays (although some will disagree with me!) I feel like all I have been doing is living and breathing reports, marking and school work. Need a break I think. I also have the Canberra Connection coming to visit: Georga & Aunty Tracy and I am very much looking forward to seeing them and spending more than a weekend with them.

I have been missing in action of late. so thought I would quickly pop in here to update everyone. I have been super busy lately with home and school. Term 2=reports and very shortly I will be bogged down in my first ever attempt at writing them.

At the moment I have the flu and just can't seem to shake it. Have been resting and snoozing mostly. The only scrapbooking I have done is the birthday books that I make for the kids in the class, but hey-that's still scrapbooking so I should be thankful!

I desperately can't wait for Peta's retreat, I wish it would come around already! I feel like I need a good weekend away and to see my girls again, I'm forgetting what you all look like and miss you terribly!

Exciting news from the home-front is that we are finally getting a new kitchen. A bit different to what I thought we'd end up with....but I did have to remember that this is not the forever house and that there is no point spending big $$ when someone may come in and not like what we'll do anyway-will keep you updated on that!

Weekend Away...

Hold onto your knickers Kate, another post! Hehehe

What a lovely weekend away! Brad and I decided that we needed to get out of the house and just relax somewhere for the weekend and we decided on the Blue Mountains.

We arrived late Friday afternoon and we both moped for most of it and weren't too enthusiastic as it was the first time since Mishy was born that we have left her at home without one of us there. She stayed at Mum's house and was pampered for the whole weekend and I think we missed her more than she missed us!

Lots of shopping and a bit of bush walking which really did seem like a great idea, until I realised I was wearing thongs, was carrying shopping bags from earlier on that day and that when I went to photograph some of the gorgeous waterfalls etc... I learned that my camera battery was infact dead-doh! Not happy Jan!

We stayed at the Metropol Guesthouse which was very quaint. Breakfast and a 3 course dinner was included every day. The room was like a match box, but because we were hardly in there it didn't matter. We also visited the artist Tanya Loviz's gallery & I loved her chekky artwork!! So much that we bought a bit of it...

All the pic's below are borrowed because of my camera...and I feel like a day of rest today....to unwind from the weekend and to relax my aching calf muscles!

Easter Long Weekend!

What a cracker of an Easter long weekend!! We spent a lot of the weekend at Mum & Dad's place as well as across the road at Nan & Pop's. It was extra special because it was 'our' year to have George (cousin Georga, pictured below) and Aunty Tracy. I don't think we stopped all weekend! Way too much food, bbq's, seafood, shopping, eating....shopping again!! Can't wait until we see you again next time! xoxox

Retreat to Main Creek

Wow! What an awesome weekend (again). I had a wonderful time, Marion was an excellent cook as always and Kate and Peta had the classes and shop organised exceptionally.

It was so nice to catch up with all the girls as well as those who travelled to be there and Donna, it was so nice to meet you in real life!

Yesterday found me outside pottering around, hanging out washing and playing with my NEW camera! I am still learning what is what & to be honest I haven't read the instruction manual yet, so I have just been experimenting with buttons and lenses & as soon as I get a chance I will sit down and have a proper look!

These were my favourite pics from yesterday, anything that moved or even didn't was a potential photo subject lol! My favourite is the gardenia, a flower that is loved by many in my family and has much history for us.

Some of the pics from Christmas taken with my NEW camera...that I still don't really know how to work lol...but am getting there (a BIG thankyou to a certain someone who helped Brad in his decision!! xx). We had lovely Christmas and were so lucky to have both families here!! We had to cram everyone into the house that night but I suppose that is what Christmas is all about! I do wish that Aunty Tracy and Georga were here, but we will get them next year!

New Years wasn't too big here. We had our friend's Tim & Kayla over...and then for the next 3 days the boys fished non-stop...yep! Even in the rain!! What were your New Year resolutions??

Mine were to work hard this year and save for New Zealand & Africa which are the places I'll be going at the end of 2010/2011... to save for the kitchen & bathroom, to make more time for me and my friends and also to be more resilient, to not care so much about what is said or done anymore, because I am happy and that is what matters most to me.

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and New Years and I do have loads more photos that I may upload in the near future.

I feel like I have been missing in action lately, haven't spoken to any of the girls...I really needto call them and if you are reading this, I haven't forgotten you, promise!! xoxo

Brad and I have been flat out lately!! Trying to get the things we want done before christmas! Our garden out the front is not finished yet, but so far looking awesome and I am so proud of it, given that I am not a gardener and most things die on me...but I have designed this one and it is living!! We have all the pavers ripped up from around the pool-it won't be re-paved by christmas as this was soooo expensive ($8000) but when we manage to get the scrunge out of the pool (brad is going to the pool shop mon arvo-phew!!) it will be swimmable and have a shade sail and that's all that matters really!!

Still haven't finished or should I say started my christmas shopping other than a few bits and pieces here and there-I need to be organised as christmas is at our house this year! And I can't wait to set up my tree after I bought some nice decorations at Myer in Melbourne when we were there....BUT we need to wait until a certain young lady i.e. Mischa has other accommodation other than inside during the day, beacuse if I set it up now we won't have a tree!! (Insert eyeroll, she can be horrid sometimes!!).

Apart from that I have been working flat out and my next non -working day is thursday, not that I should complain!! Off to New Moon tonight at the movies, can't wait!!!!

My Graduation ceremony for uni was at 6pm on Friday. Can't say I was too keen on getting dressed up, the robe, the hat, the whole ceremony thing-but I'm glad Mum convinced me to go as it now all feels complete and I am stoked that I graduated with honours (was a nice suprise when reading the ceremony program as I had no idea). Thankyou to Mum & Dad for changing their flights for their overseas holiday from the Friday to Saturday (I know it wasn't easy) and thankyou to Aunty Tracy, Georga and Beck who came shopping the day before because I had no idea what I was wearing lol. I was so glad that there were another 2 tickets available for Nan and Pop to attend (thanks Ben for understanding) and I only wished I could have had everyone there; there are so many other family members (Ben, Nan Turnbull, Val & Steve, the Green's, Laurie's and the Canberra Connection) as well as friends (you know who you are girls) who have helped me through these past 4 1/2 years and I have appreciated and continue to appreciate all you do and without your love and support I am sure I would not have been able to do this! From the bottom of my heart thankyou so much!!

The Incubator gave birth!!

Finally, the wait was killing me! The incubator gave birth officially on the 22nd day (yesterday)...hatching ended this morning and we have 14 little chicks!! (12 pekins and 2 pekin x frizzle)...so exciting!!

Hakuna Matata

I couldn't really think of any other title for the blog post lol...so hakuna matata it is-no worries, be happy; be thankful for what you have because there are always others who are so much worse off than yourself!

I have been sooo busy, I know I write this in almost every post and I'm starting to sound like a broken down record, but I really am!! This weather has been so gross! I finally scrapped a page yesterday and that's about as far as I got. All of a sudden Brad, Mishy and I found ourselves waking up on the lounge after a 2 hour sleep lol....well it was the day for it!!

Today however is another day: house-work, school-work, house-work, oh and did I mention school work?? lol Next week will be my final week of the temporary block. I am really going to miss that group of kids. I hope I have been able to make their last 4 weeks of the term interesting and special as they have done for me.

Other news....I am desperately waiting for the incubator to give birth!! Today is day 20 and I have been told that most of the time, incubated eggs come earlier...I will be soooo disappointed if they hatch while I am at school on Monday :( We have Pekin bantams and frizzle eggs in there and this is my first ever incubation attempt.

I am embarrassed to admit that I have so many unopened kits and product that I really really need to use them up before I buy any new product!! What a weekend....I had 90 school books to cover which in between marking and planning this weeks activities pretty well consumed my weekend. Thankgoodness I had Mum and Nan T here to help cover them!! We also had a visit from Val, the girls and kids on Sunday. We had a picnic lunch outise in the backyard and the weather was perfect for it!! The kids loved playing with the chooks and I wish they could have stayed longer...here are a few pics I took...

I start my month block at Clarence Town P.S-I am so excited and exhausted at the same time lol...I spent Sunday at the school arranging the classroom how I'd like it for the 4 weeks...and I really hope the kids like it, there are things hanging everywhere and it looks so bright and inviting!! Thought I best give everyone an update seeing as how I have been MIA lately!! Well...I am officially finished uni and internship and now just have my DET interview to go, which is next Wednesday (Wish me luck)-after that I am really really officially done!! I have also had some casual days already at my intern school-so I feel very lucky at the moment and it feels so nice to be earning money doing something I enjoy...

Now to share some pics...the first couple are of my scrapbook room that is finally tidy now that all the uni books are packed away, it still needs a bit of work as far as decorating and arranging, but it feels so nice to have my own space!!

As promised, there are also some pics of the chooks and the finally completed chook pen! Oh and Mishy, who as always is only a metre behind us! Hopefully I will have some pages up here soon!!

Yes, that's right! We have chooks....I have to admit, I was not keen at all and this was definitely Brads venture! Why? I'm scared I'll wake up one morning and find a fox or snake has got them (so much for positive thinking lol). Anyway, he was given 3 hens and 2 roosters...BUT we think Henny is actually a Henry...so that makes 2 hens and 3 roosters!! SO if you know of anyone who would like a bantam rooster, let me know!! Likewise, if you know of anyone who has laying bantam hens let me know (not the silky bantam kind)...will upload pics of them later this week...till then {mwah!}

I have been so slack of late with posts and keeping everyone up to date! As of Monday I will be in my 6th week of teaching, so that makes 5 weeks to go until the end of internship. I have no time to scrap because everything is so time consuming at the moment-with prac and two massive uni assignments...but there is light at the end of the tunnel!

I am so lucky that I picked such a fantastic school, with awesome staff and I am loving the all boys class!! There certainly is never a dull moment!!

I have also added some much awaited before and after pic's of the house...and there will be many more to come! I promise to keep you updated more regularly!

Yours or Mine? This is a funny photo of mum and I from christmas...as you can see, there is no guessing what the competition was about...poor mum, she hates the look on her face-I'll leave it to your imagination as to what she said it looks like she was doing lol!

Daintree Flood-I used the scraps from one of the kits to create this page. These photos are of the causeway Brad and I couldn't cross in our 'go anywhere getz' hire-care.

The Girls-I love this photo! It is of me when I was little, with mum and my aunty's. The layout design was included in the kit as inspiration.

Miss Mischa- My First page using BONS March Kit....I just love it, love the colours, love the photo!!

I am also SO SO excited because it is only one more sleep now until Kate's Retreat to Main Creek! I plan on packing today and hope to arrive there at lunch-time tomorrow. Hopefully I will have a stack of layouts to share on Monday!

On the house front, there is still no news re: a settlement date...Our solicitor is checking everything out very thoroughly, so I suppose if she didn't then she wouldn't be earning her money lol. Hopefully we will know something by the end of the week...

And lastly, I have been allocated my internship school: Grahamstown Public School. I have heard that it is a fantastic little school and I really hope it is. I will be there for a whole term and have an all boys, stage 2 class.

How Exciting!!

Well....after what feels like forever, Brad and I have finally found a house!! Our offer was accepted on sunday and we just cannot wipe the smiles off our faces!! It is in Clarence Town, 3 bedroom brick home on 1/2 an acre...there is not much that we have to do before we move in, except paint really...and all the usual stuff like scrub the floor (tiles) and get the carpet cleaned (even though it is spotless). We hope that everything will be finalised for us to move in, in 6 weeks...

Our second piece of exciting news is that we are getting a baby! A miniature long-haired daschund! Nan breeds them and we have always wanted one and now we can! I'm sure Bonnie (Brad's bordercollie) will love her! We have named her Mischa or 'squishy mishy' because she is so fat lol! I will keep you updated on the progress!

Shine-My Lucky Dip Colours to work with were red, brown and white. This is not the best pic given the light outside today...but love how this one has turned out!!

Summer Holiday- This layout was created using Liz's sketch. Loved using the fresh colours!!

Cape Trib-This is a slightly altered version to the one I entered for the inspiration challenge. I wasn't happy with the alphas I used before as they didn't stand out enough, so I have changed them-love how it looks now!!!

Cairns Zoo-This was also a sketch by Liz for the stash stompers challenge. Love these pics of all the animals at the zoo!! It was one of the best ones we have been to in a long time!!

Back to Reality...

Well, it's been quite a while since I have updated here. I have been so busy that I have not really had any new pages to share since christmas. I decided the blog needed a bit of a 'face-lift' so I hope you like the new changes...

We got home from Port Douglas on Friday....and I have decided that holidays are just never long enough!! It is such a beautiful spot there and I would recommend to anyone that the really need to visit there in their lifetime. The cyclone in Cairns didn't really affect us, except for lots of rain for the first 4 days and being flooded in at the Daintree on a day trip...unfortunately our hire-car the 'go-anywhere' Getz was too small to cross the flooded causeway....4 hours later we were able to by following a tour bus accross...

Anyway, I can't wait to scrap all my holiday photos when they arrive as well as the mountain of chrissy pics I took. Hopefully when you pop in next time I will have pages to share! Until then, I wish everyone a fantastic 2009!!!

I would just like to wish everyone a safe and merry christmas!! I hope you all have a fantastic day and are spoiled rotten with hugs, kisses, family and of course presents!!

I cannot wait until christmas....only 2 more sleeps now. I am so looking forward to having Aunty Tracy and Georga here for christmas and spending the whole day with them. Christmas eve will see us having a few nibblies and of course singstar.....and boxing day we are going to singleton to see the green clan and I cannot wait to catch up with the kids!! (thats the most exciting part about christmas)...so all in all, my christmas is going to last for quite a few days!!

I had such a fantastic time on the weekend at Peta's retreat. I am so glad that nan was able to join me and that I was able to achieve so much-11 pages!!! Not only is the scrapping great-but the girls you do it with, the food, the chatting....oh and did I mention the food?? I only wish it went longer....a weekend just never seems to be enough...So thankyou so much Peta!!! xxx

This is another page I created using Bons monthly kit. These kits really are just awesome!!

This lo is for Sandie's challenge at Bonsscraps...You had to use 1 cardstock, 1 patterned paper, inking and as many embellishments as you want as long as one as 3 layers.

I love this old photo of Milli horse at Nan and Pops old farm at Anna Bay. This lo is for Bons monthly challenge, using a photo of a kitchen for inspiration...I have used the colours and 'clutter free' nature of the kitchen for inspiration!

'Sweet Dreams Little One'- for Peta's number challenge at Bonsscraps. 5 circles, 3 different alphas and 4 patterned papers....I love it!!

Oooooh, I just LOVE these 2 layouts!!! They were created using Bonsscraps monthly kit product. You get so much in the kits!!! I definitely recommend visiting the site and making a purchase!! I still have heaps of product left and plan to create a few more pages yet!

This layout is for the newest Scrapboutique Stylist Challenge. Manon gave us a photo to inspire a page. The colours and bling is what I have taken from the photo. I also experimented with using the 'white space'.

This is what I managed to create at Kate's last thursday (in between lots of chatting and eating of licorice bullets!). Love all the sewing I was able to do on Kate's machine! xx

Bonsscraps August Cybercrop!!!

I had such an awesome time at Bons with this months cc!! It was my first ever there and it was fantastic!! I love all my pages, so thanks so much girls!!! This lo was for Peta's blind challenge and was all about using the 'white space'.

This layout was for Bon's colour challenge...white, black, red and aqua. You also had to use stars and something old from your stash...I used those clear stars and painted around the edge. So happy with this page also!!

I just LOVE this page!! This was for Sandie's challenge. You had to use paint somewhere on your lo, distressing and a heart. I have never used the paint like this before and I love that photo of nan!! xx

Finally, this lo was for Fran's sketch challenge and I am so happy with the way it turned out!! I used to drag out the shaped piece of Making Memories patterned paper and wonder what I was going to do with it....it suited this sketch perfectly!! AND I won this challenge!!! HOW EXCITING!! My first ever that I have won at Bons....so I get $15 to spend in the shop now. Thanks so much girls!!! xxx

These 2 layouts are what I was able to get done (in between talking) when Kate and I went to a Chels's house from Scrapboutique for a social scrap day! I am really pleased with how they turned out!! I even got to meet Kristyn....aka Saavy, had an awesome day!!!

This layout was for the Scrapboutique scrapolympics event 3...Iam so pleased with it and love the photo of the whole family together!! I hand-made all of the flowers out of K & Co patterned paper and doodled around the edge of all of them as well as adding dimension and height with foam tape.

This was for a sketch that Liz had over at Scrapboutique...I was so rushed to get it done! So ladies it may look a little different to that, that I posted on the site! I have changed and added a few things since then!

Finally, this is the lo that I have entered for the scrapboutique Decathlon event! Awesome challenge by the way chels!! I love how it has turned out...not the usual lo that I do!!

This is a lo that I scraplifted from Kate, whilst at her house on wed's...so happy with how it turned out, love this photo of nan and I!! Thanks Kate!!

I have used scrapboutiques paper of the month for this lo...K & C Company 'Margo' range...I even used Kate's sewing machine around the edge...getting very technical lol!! The quote in the journal box is the same one mum read at my 21st: "There is a point at which you aren't as much mum and daughter as you are adults and friends". The lace looks a little wonky on the lo, but have fixed that now!

I have entered this lo for Peta's 'This, that this' challenge at Bons Scraps. So pleased with how it turned out!! You had to use 3 patterned papers, one photo and 9 flowers...I've also added a few extra things....love it!! Quote on journal block reads: "Although we were born generations apart, it is our hearts that beat as one".

This card was for one of the scrapolympic challenges at scrapboutique, we had to use a sketch provided by Liz...love the way it turned out!! Looks better IRL though...

And finally, this is the lo I have entered for the stash stompers at scrapboutique...the criteria was to use 5 different kinds of alphas which I have...love it too!!

This is the lo that I have entered for Bons Scraps Monthly Comp. You had to use a picture of a kitchen as a stimulus...what a gorgeous kitchen too...limes greens, whites and black...such a great idea, as I have never had a challenge like this before... I'm really pleased with the end result!!

Exciting New Comp at Scrapboutique!!

Registrations are NOW OPEN for our new MAJOR comp… The 2008 ScrapOlympics The competition will start with the Opening Ceremony on Fri July 4 and run for 3 ½ weeks. July is an excellent month to get yourself involved at ScrapBoutique! It’s our First Birthday Celebration month, and that means there are stacks of fun activities and challenges to get your mojo flowing in a big way!!

Plus, our Big Celebration Cybercrop is coming up at the end of the month! Here’s the Deal…. This comp is not just based on scrapping ability!! Points will be allocated for a variety of things, and will go towards your final Medal Tally… Points System - 20 points – for completing each week’s ScrapOlympic Challenge. Plus 20 Bonus Points if you complete ALL 4 Challenges. Top 3 Voted entries each week will receive 10, 5 and 2 points respectively. Weekly winner will receive a small prize pack from the Boutique. 10 points – For completing any other official ScrapBoutique Competitions or Challenges (during the competition) 5 points for every $20 you spend in the boutique (you will need to enter your comp id in the comments box) 2 points – for every 10 posts you make in the Forum. There will also be Spot Bonus Points items throughout the competition….so keep your eyes open!

The Weekly Medal Tally will be displayed for the first 2 weeks only, then it will go into hiding until the medals are awarded at the closing ceremony. Thankyou so much everyone for your lovely birthday messages today!! I have had the best day ever and have been spoiled soooo much!! I just can't believe it....its still all sinking in!! My Mum & Dad gave me a cheque to go on my dream holiday of a life time to Africa!!

And then....my gorgeous bf Brad turned up in a Ford Focus!! I am speechless!!
